Hello;

Thank you for having me. This is my first interaction with ACEs. I am a newly certified HS teacher. I want to work in a school setting in Restorative Practices/Trauma Informed schools. I plan to move from Missouri and seek a fitting position and location and to determine what and where my Masters program will be to continue in the field. However, aside from Colorado and California (cost of living is too high for me), I am struggling to find schools that engage in these practices. I simply don't know where or how to look. If anyone has suggestions, I welcome advice and resources.

I appreciate your time.

Hi Christina, Welcome! I am glad you found your way here to ACEs Connection! As you may already know, ACEs Connection has many "communities" and I am confident that there is one that will work well for you. The ACEs Connection community called: ACEs in Education might be a good place to start? Please consider "joining" this community on ACEs Connection. You may even want to post this question there!  *Please note the blue text indicates hyperlinks to more information. I hope you continue to be an active part of ACEs Connection! Karen

I’m so happy to hear that you are passionate about this and plan to integrate it into your teaching. It is so needed!

Consider looking for job opportunities in trauma-informed communities. I know there are a handful of cities that have receive a ReCAST Grant. These grants are meant to build the resilience of a community after trauma (such as a mass shooting or natural disaster). My hometown of Charlotte is one of them and being “trauma-informed” is all everyone talks about. You can implement restorative practices/trauma informed practices anywhere! You just need a community that is ready to grow/change.

Best of luck, Christina!
