Our documentary film, Portraits of Professional CAREgivers: Their Passion. Their Pain. (see: www.caregiversfilm.com) , references four examples of structured peer support for staff who provide care to traumatized and suffering people, e.g. stress first aid of firefighters, sanctuary model with a child welfare team, supportive grand rounds of a hospice, a seminar on "When Helping Hurts...". I'd be very interested in learning about additional intentional modes of support that your agencies provide to nurture staff and prevent or mitigate compassion fatigue (aka secondary or vicarious trauma).
