My senior research project seeks to find what if any correlation exists between higher or lower ACE scores and greater or lesser utilization of professional services as related to the average for all services rendered. The professional services offered include comprehensive and intensive home based mental health programs that provide counseling, individual and family therapy, case management, and group therapy to clients between the ages of 8 and 19 who have sexual-behavioral issues that meet "medical-necessity" criteria. Most of these clients are adjudicated youth, stepping down from residential facilities, in foster care, on probation, and, or, mandated by juvenile court to take part in this program.

Paul, Since the World Health Organization (WHO) adopted [and modified] the ACE screening questionaire, for its 2013 survey of the world's healthiest children [the W.H.O. 18 question ACE screening tool is available on their website-and may be more comprehensive for ascertaining the data you want on 8-19 year olds]. The survey resulted in the U.S. ranking 25th worldwide in that survey, and it may be possible to access that data, as opposed to using the data from the [only] 28 U.S. states who include [the ten original US/CDC ACE questions in their state CDC/BRFSS]. WHO also did an ACE study with Turkish university students, this year, and it may be possible to review the data from those 19 and younger, for your senior research paper. The Texas ACE sequel study of 6,600 people-not all of whom had health insurance, was reported in the April 2010 issue of Preventing Chronic Disease journal, but I don't know the particulars of those findings.

The New Hampshire Endowment for Health, sponsored a two year study by our state Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, I believe with David FInklehor from the Univ. of N.H. Family Violence Research Center...and published: "The Mental Health Needs of N.H. Children exposed or subjected to Domestic and/or Sexual VIolence".

Best of luck on your senior research project.

Robert,

Your information is very helpful and most appreciated. Thank you. These are great leads in gathering more information and references. With your permission I would like to be able to cite our conversation. Please let me know either way and if you have any credentials that I should include.

Kind regards,

Paul

Paul,

When I wrote my undergraduate Thesis, my [Chicago Manual of Style] Bibliography included "Published Bibliographies", "Books", "Government Publications","Professional and Scholarly Serials",......"Telephone Conversations", "Personal Meetings", "Personal Correspondence", etc.--so please feel free to cite me in whatever category works best for you. My "credentials" might be noted as "Lived Experience", as I was a few trimester credits short for the undergrad degree, although my Linked-In profile lists substantial subsequent on-going "Continuing Education" credits through NASW, and other "trainings", etc.

Glad I could help.  Best Regards, Bob Olcott
