Hi, who attended the viewing of both films at WHYY studios yesterday?
I am so pleased that I had the opportunity to view both films. As a social worker and a caregiver inside and outside of work, many times were are the forgotten ones. Many times the need to take care of self is dismissed. The Caregivers film hit home the reality of this. I know that I have to consciously make more of an effort to help myself to stay healthy mentally and physically.
Paper Tigers was incredible. To see the trauma that these kids are going through and seeing staff being aware of this to meet the students where they needed to be met was so eye awakening. My family and I am going through a nephew being suspended 3 times this school year. It makes no sense to me to have him spend days outside of school putting him more behind in his school work and giving him more opportunities to get into trouble. School systems much be taught about ACE and look at "outside of the box" ways of reaching and helping our kids.
Thanks so much for allowing me to be part of the discussion.
