A new summer series on 'The Shape of Stories' runs for four Tuesdays in July. The speakers are stellar and diverse and offer us a chance to show up and dialogue across disciplines.
The series is produced by Aviva Perlo of Creative Coping and the aim is to "provide artistic tools to help people manage life changes and spark meaningful dialogue about truth, fiction, and transformation."
Tuesday July 7th at 4:00pm- Dr. Betty Sue Flowers
Dr. Flowers consultson future scenarios. Previously she was the Director of the Lyndon Johnson Presidential Library and an English Professor at the University of Texas at Austin.
She edited Bill Moyer's series Healing and the Mindand edited The Power of Myth. Dr. Flowers has a personal connection with Aviva as her professor at UT Austin 25 years ago. To add a little glamour, her partner is Bill Bradley, the Knicks basketball star and three-term Democratic U.S.Senator from New Jersey.
She'll touch on: What makes people "believe" without data? What core beliefs and stories are ruling today? What special traits do women leaders offer? How can we follow our bliss amidst such negativity? Why teach poetry? What does it mean to come alive?
