Home for Good is a national coalition that informs systems change

beginning in Philadelphia, PA in May 2018 and Minneapolis, MN, in September 2018 spearheaded by Rita S. Fierro, Ph.D, Katie Boone, and Dave Ellis.

Our first event will be in May 2018. We are actively building our organizing teams in the upcoming weeks. To join, or simply for more information, call asap or email: Rita Sinorita Fierro, Ph.D. 215 893 0579, DrRita@ritafierro.com

Here’s more about us.

The Need: Instead of supporting healing, systems continue intergenerational trauma, especially of people of color. Consider each system interacts and is the slice of a pie. It is critical we stop feeding the illusion that we can change one slice at a time. The whole recipe requires changing. Disproprotionality is the symptom of that common recipe that we can shift.

What we are doing: We are proposing to engage parents (with children in care), young adults (who were in care), service providers, funders, parent lawyers, advocates, agency administrators, community members, and key political leaders  across 12 systems that care for children (child welfare, welfare, juvenile justice, criminal justice, immigration, faith services, foundations, housing, mental health, physical health, education, legal ) in dialogues to strategize about how to cause  trauma-informed cross-system transformation that breaks the cycle of family trauma so that families can heal and exit crisis mode and children, wherever possible, children can come Home For Good. While doing this, we establish a shared culture of trauma transformation in the coalition itself. The process if based on 3-year incubation grounded in research, complexity theory, and community organizing and a social approach to trauma transformation.

Hi, Rita:
Thank you for your post! Home for Good is tremendously exciting! Concurring, we must have cross-sectors in a socio-ecological model for sustainable systems change. Ensuring the voices of those with lived experiences are guiding the process is critically imperative. Thank you!

Please consider joining our Minnesota ACEs Action: A Trauma-Informed Network and Philadelphia ACEs Connection as you'll align with like-minded leaders on the front line of systems change.

Please know too I'd like to stay in touch for when you expand to the west coast. Residing in San Diego, and our Southern CA Regional Community Facilitator, I would be thrilled to connect you with myriad individuals in support of transforming systems to cultures of care, hope, and healing.
