Hi, Monica:
Please consider joining our Books! Educational DVDs! Documentaries! community for a plethora of resources available. Jill Karson is our Community Manager and as an author, she is an exemplary connector with your interest and books in support of helping and healing.
Another consideration for you would be our Practicing Resilience for Self-Care & Healing community. Robust with tools and resources for our own self-compassion, those skills and practices could be shared with spouses also.
I haven't read them, but I've been recommended the books "Wired for Love" and "Attached."
I co-direct Supportive Alliance for Family Empowerment a.k.a. the SAFE Counseling Program. Our clients are criminally charged perpetrators of intimate partner violence or family violence. We also work with concerned individuals, men and women, who seek to prevent escalation of tension in their homes and relationships. A large portion of our clients, self-, community- or court-referred, have high ACE's scores. We teach a trauma-sensitive curriculum for adults and adolescents. We love to get in touch and train and/or provide materials according to your needs. Our materials include manuals, handouts and books with tools for building resilience and sustaining balanced relationships. More on us at www.SupportiveAlliance.com. You are welcome to call 215-750-0323 or e-mail us at Contact@SupportiveAlliance.com. http://www.blurb.com/b/8530963
I recommend Heather Tuba's e-book, which you can download for free from her website at www.heathertuba.com
It's a short, easy read that explains in simple language how to understand what the traumatized spouse is going through and how you can support your spouse while maintaining self care.
