You could check out Tapping (also called Emotional Freedom Technique)
I teach Tapping to social workers and nurses to help with compassion fatigue and secondary Trauma. Tapping is a wonderful self-regulating tool. Sometimes the professional will Tap before a particularly triggering client session and sometimes after. There is even a way to Tap in a very discrete way during the session so the Client/patient doesn't know. Check out the youtube videos. It works fast!!

PS: Tapping on your own experience with a professional is the best way to stop getting triggered. Maybe you have someone in your area who does Tapping or EMDR.
