What if I told you an agency wanted to use restraints and isolation as a form of behavior management with young children, some with mental health issues. That is exactly what is being proposed in an area of my state. I need research and evidence against this proposal.
I can't think of any reason why any child care facility would be allowed to restrain or isolate a young child, can you? Please share links to any evidence or arguments I can use in my fight against this proposal .

Im writing a dissertation on trauma in schools. I might have research you are looking for. Part of my dissertation is showing how behavior mod and exclusion is not effective and can be harmful to children. Let me know if you want to continue this conversation privately.
We really need an organized response to the case against behavioural interventions - information that is accessible for this purpose as many of us have tried to counter this argument in our own work with schools and even treatment providers. It is frustrating that little consideration is given to well established attachment theory and more recent findings in the neuroscience research. Any suggestions?
I am including a link to a short video called "Safety Without Seclusion and Restraint" that we produced last fall as part of a larger project on Trauma Informed Care. Although it doesn't necessarily focus on young children, the video highlights the importance of avoiding restrictive procedures whenever possible. The video also illustrates how some providers have changed their practices; implemented creative methods to keep staff and youth safe without re-traumatizing them; and, in the process, reduced staff turnover, staff and youth injuries, and costs. I am an MPH graduate student who interns at the Scattergood Foundation here in Philly. My master's thesis builds upon the trauma that presents in circumstances of social isolation. I may have a few resources that are related to this topic, feel free to message privately.
A parallel example I found useful in finding several resources was administrative segregation/solitary confinement in juvenile prisons and other punitive, isolating policies.
If folks have resources, please include the links here instead of having private conversations. I'd sure love that information, and I suspect others could benefit from it, as well.
That's my feeling' too. I think maybe it is because they are doing thesis or research?
